Dear Joanne, You were, are and always will be an inspiration to us. From the very beginning of our friendship and over the years as it has evolved into so much more, your listened when needed, offered advice when sought, and just loved us. And in true “Joanne” fashion, you have quite simply embraced this next passage, gliding ever so gracefully over the rainbow bridge to meet your Lord. During all those years in Westfield, you bolstered Barry as you both navigated teaching in your respective areas and came together to make sweet music that lifted the spirits. And oh how you took off on your own music adventure, making those in your orbit so much better for it. Then of course there were our “girls’ day out” adventures. Driving (with the top down) to Peddlers Village, hunting up some wonderful finds in our favorite store – Journeys – and always before leaving, a glass of wine at the local winery. Those adventures lead us to explore more, becoming quite the wine experts – or as Barry (your “Bro” would say “whine” experts (no surprise that that reference was for yours truly!!) And so we come to two years ago when Barry and I retired to Virginia and even before as we felt the pull there more and more, you were with us every step of the way! We always say that our home is as much yours as ours since you were there when we found it, when we made our offer and it was accepted, and yes (even before the furniture was in) you were there visiting – roughing it. And you eagerly embraced the challenge of trying out an abundance of Virginia wineries – definitely a theme going on here. Then came last year and your amazing trip to Italy with the Celebration Singers and just this past Spring singing at Carnegie Hall. What wonderful gifts!!! You have taught us to embrace life to the fullest, enjoy every second, and trust that in the end it all works out as it should – as you would say “winks from God.” Since your passing, I’ve felt your presence strongly. A giggling little angel on my shoulder with wings the colors of the ocean, seashells in your hair (I’m guessing you were insistent with the folks upstairs that you have “beach” wings). And at one point, I swore you whispered “that they better have Liquor 43 up there” followed swiftly by “oh they do and its much, much better” – please make sure to send some our way – just saying! Thank you for being a part of our lives, thank you for loving us, thank you for being you. Love, Susan & Barry
