Condolence: Clell was our neighbor over the fence in the backyard since 2009. He gave us the history of the neighborhood and as others have said he was a very friendly guy. He loved to talk about his time in Cedar Rapids when he found out I am from Dubuque, Iowa. We are very saddened to hear about his death but his memory will live on as a great example of a kind, thoughtful, friendly person.

Condolence From: Bobbi Burton (previously Stauffer)
Condolence: I remember Clell as a kind, funny and friendly man. When I met him I was married to Jim Stauffer who worked for Cabrillo Crane as a crane operator. At company parties he always managed to spend some time with his employees/guests and I always felt welcomed.
Jim and I attended Clell's 1980 wedding together even thought we were separated at that time. Clell and his new wife encouraged us to stay together since we were such a"perfect couple". We did have a great time at the wedding.

Many years later (mid 90's) I ran into Clell in El Cajon. As soon as I heard his name (it is not a name one forgets), I told him who I was and we talked for quite a while. He was still the friendly guy I remembered.

I was so saddened when I heard he had passed. The world has lost an ambassador of kindness.

Condolence: I met Clell in 1977 when I started selling Link-Belt cranes. At the time, I didn't know the difference between a boom and a loud noise. Clell bought the first crane I ever sold and was very encouraging and patient. He always gave his time freely and since he knew how inexperienced I was, he took me under his wing and became a mentor and a teacher. My career in crane sales now exceeds 40 years. I want to express to Brent and the family my gratitude and heartfelt condolences.

Condolence: We lived across the street from Clell for several years. He was a gracious neighbor and very kind person. He was always willing to lend a hand or give advise on any home improvement project we worked on. Our kids loved to trick or treat on Halloween at Clell's place. With the neighborhood being so quiet and no street lights, our kids were usually his only visitors and he would pour the entire container of candy into their bags. He was a funny guy and always made you laugh. It's so sad he is no longer with us.
