Doris Marie  Barger
Doris Marie Barger, 98, of Independence, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018. A memorial service will be held Monday, July 16th at 2:00pm at the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection-Wesley Chapel, 13720 Roe Ave., Leawood, KS 66224.
Doris was born September 28, 1919, in Hopkins, MO to Sidney and Marie Hall. She was raised in Northeast KC and was a member of the first graduating class of Northeast High School in 1936. She married Harley Barger in 1940 and then moved to Independence where they stayed as life-long residents. Doris was an employee of the Credit Bureau of Greater Kansas City for over 20 years and retired in 1981. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend and neighbor throughout her life. Doris is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harley Barger; sister, Helen Bastian; brother, Sidney Hall, Jr.; and a son, Ronald Barger, Sr. She is survived by her son, Dennis Barger (Carol) of Overland Park, KS; grandsons, Ronald Barger, Jr. and John Lee Barger (Christy) of Lee’s Summit, MO; granddaughter, Whitney Vosburg Whitlock of Shawnee, KS; grandson, Austin Phillips of Overland Park, KS; great-grandsons, Brett Barger, Nelson Barger and Marshall Barger; as well as, great-granddaughters, Liffey Barger, Madison Vosburg and Lucy Phillips. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care.
