Condolence From: Marie Calkins ( Shippy)
Condolence: Michael was very special to me in the early 70s. I was a bartender at the Mint, Walt was my boss and Michael was a regular customer. I have thought of him so many times over the years. I am very saddened to hear of him passing!

Condolence From: Noreen Bloch
Condolence: After an absence of 45 years, I moved back to Missoula a couple of years ago. We bought a real fixer upper and have been so busy but now that things are slowing down I kept telling my husband, I really want to get a hold of my lovely old friend Mike Thane. I went to Sentinel with Mike and my senior year he and Michelle Thompson and I became the Three Musketeers. We were inseparable. He was so fun and witty and smart and told the best jokes and kept us in stitches. We shared everything (including homework) of course.

You cannot imagine how shocked and sad I was when I put in his name in Google and came up with an obituary. How I wish I had gotten to see him again. I have never forgotten him. He will always be one of my favorite people in the whole world. We are all lucky to have known him.

Back then I was Reenie Smith. Now I am Noreen Bloch. So deepest condolences from Reenie and Noreen.

Condolence: I am very sorry to hear of Mikes passing. Even though I was a summer student forester and worked with Mike for only a couple of years on the Thompson River I will always remember him as easy going and very humorous. I was always envious of his great mustache. I learned alot from Mike in the short time I worked with the Mountain Man.

Condolence From: Jim and Beverly Runyan
Condolence: We are brokenhearted to hear the news of Mickey's passing. He was a good friend for almost 50 years and will be sorely missed. We all spent years together in Plains while Mike and Jim worked for Champion International. They were woods buddies spending a lot of after work time at Walt's in Plains. It's been a day flooded with memories. Our hearts go to his family and friends. Jim (The Rabi) and Beverly Runyan.
