Life Story for LeRoy Edwin "Stew" Stewart

LeRoy E. “Stew” Stewart

LeRoy Edwin “Stew” Stewart, 81, of Billings died August 23, 2018. He was born in Fostoria, Ohio on November 19, 1936 to Willard and Helen Stewart. He was a 1955 graduate of Fostoria High School. He enlisted in the Navy in Fostoria September 21, 1955 and was assigned to a mechanical construction battalion. Stew was proud of his 30 year career as a Seabee, both active and as a reservist. During this same time, he also began a more than 30 year career with the City of Billings. He began with the water department and then retired in 1999 as the Superintendent of Mountview Cemetery.
Stew is survived by his brothers; Stan (Karen) Stewart of Sandusky, OH and Glenn (Joyce) Stewart of Forsyth, MT, his daughter, Tamara Kaye Stewart of Ashford, WA; his wife of 41 years, Rita Stewart and his four step-children; Terry (Garry) Mohr of Nicholasville, KY, Lisa Means of Hillsborough, NC, Barbara Means of Auburn, WA, David Means of Billings, MT; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
There will be a visitation from 12 to 8 pm, Thursday, August 30 and a funeral service at 1:00 pm Friday, August 31, both at Smith West Chapel, 304-34th St W. Interment with military honors will be at Mountview Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Legion Post #117, 1540 Broadwater Avenue, Billings, MT 59102.
