Condolence From: John Davenport
Condolence: Another memory: A year ago, our area had a power failure
one night before dawn. Harold was out in his driveway,
pacing until a power company truck would come by and tell
him what was going on, when we would get power, etc.
I walked over to pace & watch with him. He told me that
the situation was not tolerable, and "I have made a major
decision: "I'm sending "Ma" to get us hot coffee." (He
had gotten the garage door open and soon Rita backed
the car out and headed east in the pre-dawn.) Before
long, she drove in. She had gone to Shady Oak Road and
she had a thermos full of MacDonald's hot coffee. And,
she managed to get it FREE! We sat on the deck and
sipped the good coffee by the dawn's early light. Rita
asked what he thought of her success. He grinned and
pronounced "Ma, you done good."

Condolence: Rita and all of Harold's family :
For almost a half-century, you have been wonderful
neighbors. We have been so fortunate ! Everybody
in our family has admired you and Harold and your
"kids" and the whole family. This will continue and
we will have more great memories as years go by.
My favorite memory so far is when Liz told Harold
where he could go, when he wanted coffee in the
morning in our flooded campsite in the 1970s !
We are so sorry about your (and our) loss.
