Jim “JT” Jordan, 70, of Odessa, Texas, went to be with his Lord Tuesday, September 4, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at a memorial service 2:00 PM Friday, September 14, 2018, at Mid-Cities Community Church, 8700 TX Hwy 191, Midland, Texas. Officiating will be pastors Andrew Strand and Daniel Stephens. Private interment will be held at Andrews Old Cemetery under the personal care of McNett Funeral Home in Andrews, Texas. Jim was born on September 2, 1948, in Ward County, Monahans, Texas, to Paul Neal and Phyllis Jane Vaughn Jordan. At the time of Jim’s birth, the Jordan’s lived in Wickett, Texas; they moved to Andrews, Texas in 1952. Jim attended and graduated from Andrews High School in 1966. He obtained a Bachelors Degree from West Texas State University on August 13, 1970. He was drafted into the Army in 1970; he received an honorable discharge on March 13, 1972; and was discharged from the reserves on September 7, 1976. Jim graduated Law School from South Texas College of Law on May 11, 1976. He worked in the Houston D. A.’s office from 1976 to 1980, and moved back to Odessa in March of 1980.

Jim was a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Ector County Bar Association. He was also licensed to practice before the Federal Court and U.S. Supreme Court. He worked as a prosecutor in the offices of the Ector County and District Attorney from 1980 to 1982. He then joined Jim Bobo in private practice and became a partner of Bobo and Jordan, by a handshake, from 1984 to 1991. He was sworn into office on January 1, 1991, as Ector County Judge and remained in office until his retirement on December 31, 1998.

Jim represented Ector County in many community and civic organizations; taking a special interest in the Meals on Wheels program where he served on the Board of Directors. Even after retirement he enjoyed the relationships developed as a driver on “Route P” from 2005 to 2016.


JT married the love of his life, Donna, on November 23, 2002. Together they made a life in Odessa, Texas. JT enjoyed family and friends across the State of Texas, and found a church family at Mid-Cities Community Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Neal Jordan in 1958; his mother, Phyllis Jordan in 2008; and two sisters, Marnie Jordan and Paula Bernhard.

Jim is survived by his wife, Donna Jordan of Odessa; step-daughter, Dr. Tonya Pinkerton and husband Eric of Lubbock, Texas; brother, Richard Jordan and wife Darelle of Wimberley, Texas; nieces and nephew, Hollie Bernhard Alvarado and husband Pete of Austin, Texas; Eliza Grey and husband James of Seattle, Washington; James Paul Jordan and Amelia Jordan both of Wimberley, Texas.

Honorary Pallbearers are; Tommy Barrow, Judge Jim Bobo, Tommy Sanders and Eric Pinkerton.
