Obituary for Beverly Jones

Print
Passed away peacefully at home with her loving family by her side on September 2, 2018 in her 85th year. Loving wife of the late Denys Jones for 55 years, devoted and loving mother of Carolyn Jones, Barbara Jones (Ian Rowlands), Keith Jones (Laura). Predeceased by son, Greig Robert Jones and parents Gladys (Hyslop) Brown and John Robertson Brown. Bev always enjoyed a close relationship with her late brother J. Greig Brown and sister-in-law Ruth Brown and her sister Barbara Greer (Brown) and brother-in-law James E. Greer. She was the proud and loving grandmother of Megan Jones (Tim Pritchard); Thomas, Andrew and Charlotte Rowlands; and Adrian Jones; great grandmother of Isabella Pritchard; nana-Bessie to Karen, Christina and Emma Watt. Bev was the steady rock and foundation of the family home as she championed and guided her children towards the responsible lives they live today. She was a graduate of the business program at Galt Collegiate and Vocational Institute and a long serving member and worker with children and young people at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Galt (Cambridge). Beverly was a good listener and advisor to a number of neighbourhood teens and young people who turned to her for help and advice in times of upset and crisis. A tireless volunteer, she assisted with numerous school events and class trips for all of her children. She also worked as a volunteer with handicapped children at Jane Laycock School and Lansdowne Children's Centre. Bev enjoyed her relationships with the neighbourhood bridge club and the Crazy Eight Euchre Group (Dandos, Normans and Montagues) for over 40 years. Basically a quiet person but one who was steadfast with her beliefs and loyal in her relationships. Bev enjoyed long walks in her middle years, travel, neighbourhood friendships and planning numerous family events and meals, along with being a gracious and welcoming hostess. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the kind and dedicated caregivers whose support allowed Bev to remain in her home where she was always happiest. Family and friends will be received at the TOLL FUNERAL HOME 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford on Saturday, September 15th 2018 from 6-8p.m. Funeral service will be held the following day in the chapel on Sunday, September 16th at 2:00p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Children's Safety Village of Brant or the Stedman Community Hospice.
