Obituary for Ronald Jacob "Ron" Schessler

Ronald (Ron) Jacob Schessler
Ron was born on January 28, 1942 in Billings, Montana to Jabob and Violet (Rowland) Schessler. He passed away on September 10, 2018 with his wife, Cynde Ewen, by his side. After serving in the Army for 7 years, Ron was an over-the-road truck driver until he retired. He worked for various companies and owned his own truck for a while. When he retired, he did so with no accidents. This was something that Ron was very proud of. After he retired, he dabbled in horse showing for a while and then became a volunteer at the Salvation Army where he helped in the kitchen and feeding the homeless. He was very dedicated to this calling as he felt pride in the ability to help others in need. He had a special love for baseball, taking a month off during spring training to watch the Atlanta Braves practice in Florida. He said they always treated him like royalty as they thought he was a scout. He also took two weeks every June to travel to Wisconsin so he could visit his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Cynde Ewen; sisters, Janette (August) Stobbe, June Keach, and Dona Schessler; two sons, Mark Zimmerman and Dean (Tina) Zimmerman; neices and nephews, Debbie (Lary) Horner, Jeanie Fee, Keith Strobbe, Greg Strobbe, Kim (Joel) Laub, Lori (Dale) Clayton, Jon (Stephanie) Schessler, step-children, Shawn Ewen, Nina Jonson, Elizabeth Aplin, and Paulina (Andrew) Graydanus; two grandchildren, Cassandra and Deana Zimmerman; nine step-grandchildren, Tayler Ewen, Kameron Ewen, Kierian Herra, Kylinn Johnson, Kyler Johnson, Issaha Aplin, Layla Aplin, Alex Black, and Keith Graydanus.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Violet Schessler; father-in-law, Keith Ewen; brother, Gary Schessler; and brother-in-law, Loring Keach.
There will be a Celebration of Ron’s Life on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 2 PM at Bethlehem Congregational Church in Worden, Montana. All family and friends are encouraged to come and gather as we remember this great man. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ron's name to PO Box 92, Ballantine, MT 59006 or the Salvation Army in Billings, MT.
