Peter John Gallagher, 80, of Brick Township, NJ, passed away Saturday, September 15th at Ocean Medical Center. Peter was born and raised in Harrison, NJ. He moved to the Jersey shore in 1961, living in Toms River and eventually settling in Spring Lake, NJ, where he lived with his wife and children for more than 30 years.

Peter began his career working as a Butcher in Kearny, N.J. He continued his career with Shop Rite, as Meat Department Manager, for more than 25 years, retiring in 2000. In 2003, Peter and his wife Diane moved to Pompano Beach, Florida, where they enjoyed their retirement years. They traveled often and enjoyed spending their time on the beach or sitting by their pool on the Intracoastal.

Family meant everything to him. He loved spending time with his family and friends, celebrating life, surrounded by those that he loved. He also loved fishing at his vacation home on the Delaware River, in Beach Lake, Pa., enjoying the outdoors.

Peter was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Diane (nee DeMauro) Gallagher in 2010; his parents, Patrick Gallagher and Mary (nee Grant) Gallagher, and four brothers Patrick, Thomas, Joseph, Michael, and a sister, Alice Lancaster.

He is survived by his son, Michael Gallagher and his wife Jennifer of Brick Township, NJ.; three daughters: Donna Curtis and fiancé Tony Shupin of Deerfield Beach, Florida; Linda Harrison and her husband Tom of Honesdale, Pa.; and Kelley Cole and her husband Shawn of Beach Lake, Pa. Pete has five grandchildren, Corin, David, Daniel, Natalie, and Jacob whom he loved dearly; and one brother, James Gallagher and his wife, Mary, of Stanhope, NJ.

Family and friends are invited to call Thursday, September 20, from 4-7 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals in Manasquan. A funeral prayer service will be held at the funeral home Friday, September 21 at 10 am. Entombment will follow at St. Catherine’s Mausoleum, Sea Girt.
