Obituary for Lois J. Schneider

Lois J. Schneider, 92, of the East Mountain Section of Scranton died Monday September 17, 2018 at the Allied Skilled Nursing Center. She will be joining family in Heaven and will be greeted by her loving husband, Paul L Schneider who passed away on July 14, 2001. The couple was married on August 2, 1947 and had 53 wonderful and happy years together.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Martha Kakareka Swamley.
A graduate of Scranton Technical High School, prior to retirement she worked as the head teller for the NET Federal Credit Union.
Lois was a life member of the Scranton Telephone Pioneers. She was the biggest Red Sox Fan all her life and would watch the Yankees just to hope they’d lose. Other favorites were Penn State Nittany Lions and Syracuse Orange. During her lifetime she was an avid bingo player and was always up for a game of cards. She thoroughly enjoyed her many weekly trips to the casino, being a member of many bowling leagues and traveling with her husband.
Surviving are daughters Lori Gardner and husband Michael, Scranton, Lynn Hart and husband Eugene, Moscow, Gail Battle, South Abington Twp.; son Paul Schneider and wife Linda, Covington Twp.; grandchildren Paul Schneider, Sandra Hokien, Lindsey Uhrin, Leanne Schneider, Mark and Melissa Battle, Eugene, Brian and Kevin Hart; 17 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister in law, Mildred Walsh and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a sister Audrey Jenkins and son-in-law Francis Battle Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 am in the Immaculate Conception Church 801 Taylor Ave. Friends and family may pay their respects in the church Saturday morning from 10 am until Mass time. Interment in St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow will be private at the convenience of the family.
The family would like to thank all of her caregivers from Hospice of the Sacred Heart and Allied Skilled Nursing. Memorial contributions can be made to Immaculate Conception Church.
Arrangements are under the care of the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Ave. Scranton.
