February 13, 1955 – September 24, 2018
I met our Brenda late in middle school. Through shared good and bad times we walked every inch of Abilene, I think-talking, dreaming, pretending...After high school, I joined a band as lead singer and Brenda was such an integral part of the "pack", kept us laughing and acting like kids. Everyone loved Brenda and missed her if she wasn't there.
Since I was on stage, I never got to dance and I so loved to dance. Brenda convinced me to dance on my breaks, even if by myself (which, even after moving on from the band, I have done everyday since). Not very well since laughter was and still is prevalent-but I do it for her. That was her gift to me - Once you've taken care of everyone else - do something you love - for yourself. That was my Brenda. I passed her lesson on to my children as well.
I was privileged to know her son as a tiny one, but life happens and we drifted apart only connecting occasionally over the years. I'm sure when my time is over, that drifting won't matter. I've loved her like my sister always and I like to think she remembered me well since I plan on dancing for her the next time we meet in Heaven.
