Obituary for Ruth Ann Novak

Print
Ruth Ann Novak, age 85, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2018, after a brief but valiant fight at Yale-New Haven Hospital, lovingly surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was born in Port Chester, New York, on November 22, 1932, to the late Frank and Jennie (Powell) Parelli. Previously a long-time resident of Greenwich and Sandy Hook, Connecticut, Ruth lived in Norwalk for the past 16 years.

Ruth was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She had many interests and passions, including her extraordinary baking skills, which brought joy to so many. An avid reader throughout her lifetime, Ruth’s greatest joy, however, was the time she spent with her family, especially with her children, grandchildren, and her great-grandson, Grayson.

Ruth was predeceased in 2002 by her beloved husband of 45 years, John L. Novak. She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Spadaro and her husband, Frank, of Norwalk, and her son, John J. Novak and his wife, Sandy, of Greenwich. She leaves behind her loving grandchildren, Lauren Wintman and her husband, Douglas, of Trumbull, Christopher Spadaro of Norwalk, Amanda Novak of Wilbraham, MA, and John Novak, also of Norwalk. She was an adoring great-grandmother to Grayson Wintman of Trumbull as well. Ruth is also survived by her brothers, Frank Parelli, Jr. and his wife, Barbara, and William Parelli and his wife, Morna, all of Milford, CT, and a sister, Marie DeFrancesco of Rye Brook, NY. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by another brother, Emil Parelli, and three sisters, Dorothy (Teddy) Telesco, Julia (Toddy) Scarfone, and Linda Parelli.

Family and friends may call at Castiglione Funeral Home, 544 Old Post Road #3, Greenwich, CT, on Sunday, September 30, from 3:00-8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 4 Riverside Avenue, Greenwich, CT, on Monday, October 1, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 399 North Street, Greenwich, CT.
