Maria Elena Hayes passed away on September 28, 2018 surrounded by loved ones in Las Cruces, NM. Maria Elena was born in Los Herreras, Nuevo León, Mexico on July 28, 1947. Maria Elena was preceded in death by her parents Teofilo & Elena Salinas.

Maria Elena leaves behind her husband of 27 years, John R. Hayes, her son Marco A. Silva & family, her daughter Nicole Silva & son, her sister Gloria Ryan & family, her brothers Roberto Salinas & family and Jose A. Salinas & wife.

Maria Elena worked at Third Judicial District Court as a Judicial Specialist when she became ill. Maria Elena would spend her free time crafting, planting and decorating her home with her creativity and sense of style. You could find Maria Elena on many Fridays and Saturdays on the sidelines cheering on her three grandsons in many types of sporting events.

Maria Elena was a loving mother, wife, sister, grandmother, daughter and friend that will be missed by many.

Visitation will be held at 6 pm, Tuesday, October 2, 2018 with a rosary to follow at 7 pm at Getz Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral mass will be held at 10 am, Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Holy Cross Catholic Church.
The family has requested donations to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
