101 Years old
Victoria Blanch Covey
101, of Halifax, passed away September 29, 2018 at Maplestone Nursing Home. Born in Hackett’s Cove on June 3, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Sherman and Lalia (Boutilier) Covey. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Predeceased by her sisters, Frances, Effie, Evelyn and brothers, William, Raymond, James and Harold.
Victoria was a devoted member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church on Parker Street, Halifax. In later years, inviting members of this community for lunch each week in her home brought her much joy. Volunteering many years at the Parker St. Food Bank followed her retirement from Royal Print. She was interested in the genealogy of the Covey family and ensured the family knew our ancestry. In younger years, family members referred to her fondly as “Aunty Toots” and all will remember her letters, birthday cards, knit socks and crocheted afghans. Funeral service to be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 3:00 pm at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 2063 Parker Street, Halifax with Pastor David Crook officiating. A family burial will take place at William Black Cemetery in Glen Margaret at a later date. Donations in her memory can be made to the Halifax SDA Church, 2063 Parker St. Halifax, N.S. B3K 4T6 referencing the new building fund. Funeral arrangements under the direction of Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Upper Tantallon, N.S. Online condolences can be made to www.rawalker.ca
