Unfortunately, I was away all last week when I came home to the news that Sal has past. Sal has been a constant in my life since 1976 when I was in High school. When you tell people that, your barber past. They just do not understand the kind of person Sal was. Sal was my stylist when I graduated High school, he was there for all job interviews, When I was married, when my daughter was born, when my wife had bladder cancer, All of the holidays. He was there not only to cut my hair but also to listen and to and be my friend. I was there last year when Sal had the leg bleed at the shop. In typical Sal fashion he kept on saying put a band aid on it. Get in the chair I am fine. He would not go the hospital until I pleaded to him with tears in my eyes that I was afraid to lose him and he had to go to the hospital to get checked out. When Sal came back after his couple of months off we realized what we had. We would hug and say love you brother. I really am having a hard time with Sal’s passing. I have such a void in my heart. I am so sorry I could not attend the services. I hope there were tons of people there and I bit of a spectacle.
Sal loved style I hope he went out in style.
I love you brother. Rest in peace. You earned the rest.

I met Sal in January, 1978, when he cut my hair for the first time......and he was my barber until I moved to VA in 2001. Even then, we would stop and see him when returning to NY for a visit. I remember him being heavy into disco, and he used to dance sometimes while cutting hair. Great fun! He would often have refreshments at the salon for customers, especially at Xmas time. And you always got a great haircut....."at Sal's". He will be missed by many many people. RIP, Sal!

Our Dear Friend SAL,
For over 50 years you have shared your expertise, your passion, your treasure, your life's philosophies, your "KINDNESS" & all things good with all of us who were fortunate enough to have crossed your path. How blessed are we to be able to call you our "Friend".
Now that you are with JESUS, who you so adored and glorified by praising his name & committing to following his word as shown by the very way you lived your life, our sincerest wish is that you will now enjoy eternal peace alongside your precious mother, Angela, who along with our savior was always your guiding light. We will always cherish the memories of your giving spirit.
Peace and love our good friend SAL. Always in our hearts, BOB & NANCY

45 years ago I sat in Sal's barber chair for the first time. He spent 1/2 hour trying to convince me to change my hairstyle. Reluctantly I agreed and I thank God every day for his foresight. Sal was the most dedicated person to his job that I have ever known. He was also unquestionable the best ever. I will miss the many laugh and talks we shared. Sal always thought of the other guy first. My sincere condolences to his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. God bless Sal Madelone.

Sal, you are one of a kind, and a stylist for all. Your flying scissors and great dialogue will be truly missed in Rotterdam and Schenectady. The place you hold in the hearts of your friends and customers shows the love and respect you commanded. We will all miss you.

Will miss you Sal. We were both Army vets and I always enjoyed your stories, especially those that were related to your years in service to our country. You were the consummate professional when it came to your chosen profession of cutting hair. Nobody better. Don't know if I can find another like you. You were the best here on earth. Generous to a fault with you customers and friends. You've been reunited with your Mom, Dad and brother, up in Heaven. God bless.

Sal, was always a very giving and great person. We grew up on hungry hill, and his parents were the best. i can still picture his mom, Julie, driving her little red truck around the hill. He would enjoy when i would take my Mom to visit him, he loved "Louise", and would shower her with gifts. Rest in peace dear friend, and fly with the angels. You have fought the good fight, and now you are at peace with your God.
With our Love & Prayers,
Mary Ann, Bill & Louise
