Obituary for Mark S Hubley

Mark S. Hubley, “Hubcap”, 68, of Old Chatham, NY, formerly of Pittsfield, MA, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 29, 2018.

Born in Pittsfield on August 29, 1950 to Rosemary LeBlanc Hubley Thomson D’Alessandro and Lorin E. Hubley, Sr., both of whom predeceased him.

Mark was a 1969 graduate of Pittsfield High School. He was a retired and proud member of the Massachusetts Laborers’ Union Local 473, having worked for Renau Construction for over 30 years. He was also a longtime member of the Berkshire Bow and Gun Club.

He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. Though a hunter, he especially enjoyed sitting and watching “his deer and birds” which would come in droves to his home, where he would leave food for them and yet never hunt nearby.

He enjoyed watching NASCAR races and was a diehard Dale Earnhardt, Sr. fan. His other passions included golfing, treasure hunting, gambling, and antiquing. He took great pleasure doing daily crossword puzzles with his wife, Lisbeth, and spending time on Mt. Desert Island, Maine.

Mark loved listening to music, especially the Allman Brothers Band, and going to live concerts. A foodie, he was always ordering something new and exotic off the menu.

His laughter, big heart, “dad jokes” and love for life and his family will always be remembered.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 13 years, Lisbeth O’Connell; his cherished children, Matthew M. Hubley and Brooke M. Hubley; his brother, Paul “P.J.” Hubley; his three sisters, Christine A. Thomson, Heather A. Thomson and Carol A. Spiewak; his stepfather, Heath Thomson; his uncle, they were best friends and more like brothers, Robert LeBlanc; his aunt and godmother Anne McConnell, and his aunt Marilyn Harte. He leaves two stepbrothers, Julian "Butch" D'Alessandro and David D'Alessandro, and a stepsister, Mariann Collyer. He also leaves his former wife and mother of his children, Kate Hubley; as well as close cousin Warren Vienneau and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members who were important in his life.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Lorin E. Hubley Jr., and Heath “Pete” Thomson; his stepbrother Brian D’Alessandro; and stepfather Julian D’Alessandro.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours will be held, FRIDAY, October 5, 2018 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at DERY FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the American Heart Association, in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
