Obituary for Anthony Eugene "Ant" Berry

Print
Mr. Anthony Eugene Berry was born on July 30, 1970, in Greenville, South Carolina, to Rev. Dr. John T. Berry, Sr., and Rev. Gracie Cruell Berry.

Anthony was affectionately known to his family and friends as “Ant.” He lost his battle with cancer at Emory Healthcare in Atlanta, Georgia, on October 6, 2018, at 8:27am.

Anthony accepted Jesus Christ at an early age, and was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church. He served as an assistant to the pastor, Sunday School Teacher, and a Steward for the church. He shared and encouraged many in the Lord bringing them into the kingdom of God.

Anthony graduated from South Carolina State University with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. He received a master’s degree in Public Health from the University of South Carolina. He also worked in the field of mental health for 16 years as a Certified Behavioral Therapist. Later, he was employed as an Operation Manager for Imperial Building Services, in both North and South Carolina.

He was a family man who loved having fun. He was our devoted family reunion president for many years as a mandate from God as the family agent. Anthony loved to travel domestically and internationally. He was a jovial, loving, young man who loved his wife, family and people. He was also a true sportsman.

Left to cherish many fond and loving memories are his loving and devoted wife, Katrice Hollis Berry of Atlanta, GA; his parents, Rev. Dr. John T. and Rev. Gracie C. Berry, of Greenville, SC; two sisters, Denetrice Berry-Brunner of Greenville, SC, and Jacqueline Berry of Simpsonville, SC; two brothers, Frederick (Pamela) Berry and John (LaSonya) Berry, Jr., both of Greenville, SC; a goddaughter/niece, Jana Berry of Ellenwood, GA; other nieces, Latashia Sullivan of Greenville, SC, and Aleea Brunner of Simpsonville, SC; nephews, Andre Jennings of Charleston, SC, Marcus Holland of Columbia, SC, Robert Sullivan and Jayden Berry, both of Greenville, SC, and Brandon Berry of Ellenwood, GA; father and mother-in-law, Rev. Dr. Johnny J. (Gloria) Hollis, Jr., of Montgomery, AL; a brother-in-law, Johnny Hollis, III, of Montgomery, AL; and a host of other relatives and friends.
