Obituary for Emma Jean Copeland

Print
On October 7, 2018, Emma Jean (Elrod) Copeland joined her late mother and father, Ray and Emma Elrod, as well as her husband of 46 years, David Bradley Copeland, in heaven to worship and praise her King Jesus. Mrs. Emma Jean was born on September 25, 1935 in Sparta, Tennessee, and she lived as a God fearing daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

During her life on earth, Emma Jean influenced so many family members, friends, and even strangers through her love for Christ, her radiant smile and laughter, as well as her beautiful music played on the piano. Not only were kids and students taught how to play the piano by Mrs. Emma Jean, entire church congregations were led to worship by her gorgeous playing.

She is survived by her son, David Wayne Copeland and wife Debbie (Mason) Copeland, her son, Daniel Ray Copeland and wife Donna (West) Copeland, in addition to her daughter Carol Jeannette (Copeland) Bohannon and husband Derek Bohannon. Mrs. Emma Jean has inspired and influenced her children and their spouses through setting examples of how to live as a Godly wife and mother.

Emma Jean Copeland has not only excelled in raising her children, but furthermore has impacted the lives of her grandchildren, Brandy Jones (Drew), Tabetha Greene (Jason), Wil Copeland (Breanna), Ethan Bohannon (Emily), Jonathan Bohannon, and Bethany Bohannon. She has continued to influence them with countless amounts of love and compassion, as well as her great-grandchildren Seth Greene, Alyson Jones, and Everly Copeland.

Emma Jean is also survived by her sister, Ruth West of Georgia.

Throughout the years of Mrs. Emma Jean Copeland's life, she has lived shining the light and the love of her Savior, Jesus Christ. She has loved Jesus, and she has loved people. Psalms 42:2 reads "My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?" Mrs. Emma Jean Copeland has thirsted for the Lord within her life, and she has led others to thirst; however, now she is no longer thirsting, but she is meeting and worshipping her God.

Funeral service will be held at 4pm on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Wil Copeland and Fred Copeland officiating. Burial will follow in Copeland Chapel Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 12 noon until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.
