Charles Lindberg Sims left his earthly home to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday, October 8, 2018.

Charles L. Sims was born July 26, 1932. He was raised by his parents Nathaniel and Mamie Sims in Joliet, IL.

Charles accepted the Lord into his life at an early age. He was a long standing member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church; serving on the Trustee Board for many years. He was employed with the US Postal Service, Madison, WI as a Supervisor, where he retired after over 25 plus years.

Charles served on numerous Boards and committees. He was President of the Board at Genesis Corporation, Served on the Planning Commission and served as Interim President of the Urban League.

Charles married Robin McAlister-Sims on April 12, 2003 in Las Vegas, NV. He enjoyed spending time with his wife of 15 years, time with family and friends, traveling, cooking and tending to his plants and flowers. Charles loved cars and was an “avid car buff.”

Charles leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Robin McAlister; his children, Maurice Sims (Madison), Brian (Los Angeles, CA), Tawana Horton (Madison); his sister, Deborah Sims (Joliet, IL.); three beautiful grandchildren, Carl M. Jackson, Jasmine Jackson, and Nia Jackson (Madison); his nieces and nephews Gerald (Kathy), Linda (Donald), Beverly (Ronnie) Cynthia (Joe) Alice, Michael (Brenda); his Sisters-in-laws Angela McAlister, Julia Powell (Fred), and Lisa (South Carolina), Tina (Atlanta), Lena, Lana, Karen, and Brother-in-law Larry McAlister (Beloit, WI). He also leaves a host of nieces and nephews, and longtime neighbor and friends Norbert & Joan Lovato of 31 years.

Charles was a strong man of faith and family. He will be Greatly Missed and Loved Always
