Matilda Scrivens Corey, age 92, a resident of Bennington, VT died on October 7, 2018 at Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in which she resided for 11 years.

Tillie was born in Bennington, VT on February 9, 1926 and was the daughter of the late George W. and Margurite D. (Therriault) Scrivens. She received her education in local schools and is a graduate of Bennington High School.

Tillie had been employed at the former Tompson Mill Co., EZ Mill and was a nursing assistant at a local nursing home.

Her hobbies were roller skating, dancing, yodeling and entertaining having been in many talent shows. She was a fun loving person, a wonderful Mom, Wife, Aunt and Grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, William A. Corey of Bennington, VT; her daughters Eva Watters and Marie Corey Webber of Bennington, VT, Corrinne Erskine of Cocoa, FL; a son William G. Corey of Scroon Lake, NY and predeceased by her son Peter A. Corey, granddaughter Autumn Corey and her brother Eugene George Scrivens.

She leaves behind her sister in law Lillian Scrivens of Shaftsbury, niece Linda Scrivens and nephew Steven Scrivens. Grandchildren Monique Grasso of Cambridge, NA, Larry Amell of Titusville, FL, Matthew Corey of North Bennington, VT, Treavor J. Webber of Columbia, SC and Danielle Webber of Pownal, VT.

She leaves behind 6 great grandchildren, Antonio Grasso and Marina Grasso, Zachary and Lucas Corey, Paige, Brooke, Treavor Jr. and Piper Webber and several nieces and nephews, numerous relatives of Vermont and one cousin, George Therriault of Alaska and Florida. Including all descendant of her grandparents John “Jack” William Scrivens and Elizabeth Hicks Scrivens Ranney Fleming of Hyde Park, VT whom immigrated from England.

She expressed her wishes for no services or gathering. All her animals were rescued, so in lieu of flowers, please send donations to Second Chance Animal Shelter, PO Box 620, Shaftsbury, VT 05262 : Email secondchance@wildblue.net Phone # (802) 375-2898.
