Carol Elizabeth Halda, age 93, formerly of Deerwood, passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Woodland-Good Samaritan Society. Carol was born Albert & Nancy (Houts) Peterson on December 8, 1924. She married Roy Halda and together they owned and operated Roy’s Café in Deerwood.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Tom of Brainerd; daughter, Nancy (David) Soderman, of Gilby, North Dakota; sister, Ruth Summner of California; 6 grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 10 step great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; 8 step great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy; son, Keith; step-sons LeRoy, Vernon, and Eldon; sister, Janet Gilipsie; 2 step grandsons.
Funeral service for Carol will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 11AM at Cascade Methodist Church in Deerwood. Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, from 5-8PM at Halvorson Johnson Funeral Home – BRAINERD CHAPEL, with an Eastern Star service at 7PM, and one hour prior to the service, Thursday at the church. Interment will be at Riverside Union Cemetery.
