Dominick R Santarelli of Scranton, formerly of Jessup, died Friday, October 19, 2018 at home.
Born in Peckville, June 11, 1935, He was the son of Armand and Jennie Agostini Santarelli.
He graduated from Jessup High School in 1953.
He excelled in Baseball and Football in high school and was chosen athlete of the week.
He was sought after by professional baseball and football teams alike. He pitched several no-hit no-run games; he lost only one game in three years. He was an avid sportsman, hunting and fishing throughout his whole life.
Most of Dominick's career involved managing horse farms in New Jersey, including Lana Lobel. The last 20 years of his career he was manager of Southwind Farms, Pennington, NJ. He became world renowned for his skills in breeding horses for harness racing, especially the World Champion Horse" Valley Victory" and owned many award winning horses.
He is survived by a daughter, Donna Florimonte and her husband, Don Strasburger; a sister, Joyce McDonnell and her husband, Patrick McDonnell; a nephew, Patrick McDonnell and his wife, Linda and their son, Matthew Christian McDonnell; a niece, Michelle Minelli and her husband, Joseph Minelli.
He was preceded in death by a son, Dominick, "Chipper" Santarelli.
His life was a miracle and his last five years of his life was a story of redemption. His Faith in God was very inspiring. He loved to help people and had a compassionate heart.
We would like to thank Dominick's Dear friends: Jacob and Joanie Stein and their children; Thomas, Anthony, Nicolas, Samuel, Jack and Charles. The Stein's brought an incredible amount of Happiness, Joy and most of all the LOVE OF GOD into Dominick's life.
Funeral Service will be conducted on Saturday, October 27th at 10:30am at The Church of Saint Gregory, 330 North Abington Road, Clark's Green, PA 18411.
Friends and family may pay their respects from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
