Obituary for Freddie T. Stapleton

Freddie T. “Bucky” Stapleton age 67, of Hellier, KY passed away Monday, November 5, 2018 at the Pikeville Medical Center of Pikeville, KY.
Bucky was born July 1, 1951 in Pikeville, KY to the late Fred and Gloria “Pidge” Childers Stapleton.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cora Elizabeth Stapleton; one son, Kyle Stapleton; and one sister, Elaine Sykes & her husband Danny all of Hellier, KY; several nieces and nephews & many, many friends.
He & Liz owned the Giovanni’s Pizza at Regina & recently opened the Morelli’s Pizza at Millard. He was a kind man & well respected. He enjoyed his music & was a talented pianist.
Bucky was a loving husband, father, brother & uncle.
The family will accept friends for visitation at the Thacker Memorial Chapel 6 PM Tuesday, November 6, 2018 and Wednesday, November 7, 2018 with services beginning at 7:00 P.M. with Terry Gibson and Randy Bentley officiating. The funeral service will be Thursday, November 8, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. Burial will follow on Annie E. Young Cemetery of Pikeville, KY.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Thacker Memorial Funeral Home of Pikeville, KY.

Cora, Kyle, & Elaine,
I became acquainted with Bucky some 50+ years ago. During my late teen years Bucky went on to teach me to play the bass guitar well enough to join his group. We would later claim the group name of, The Cob Holler Mountain Boys. The group was comprised of Bucky, Tim, Ricky, Bob C, myself, and one more whose name I just can't remember, but he was the singer. Tim or Ricky will know, but his name eludes me. Anyway, we would practice at his folk's house and later went on to play on the local radio station and at a few local venues. I must say that the memories that I can recall of that time are wonderful. Our times together were filled with joy of song and much laughter. Bucky, as were all of the guys, just the absolute best that God has created. I felt honored at that time and still do today to have been invited into the group.
Bucky Stapleton was a model of what a rock-solid, good man should be. I offer my sincerest belated condolences for your loss.
