Joyce Lynn Thompson, age 64, of Pikeville, KY, passed from this life surrounded by her family, Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, KY.

Joyce was born May 6, 1954 to the late Ervin and Ocie (Varney) Chaney in Pikeville, KY.

Besides both parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William Thompson, who passed from this life in 1985; one brother, Douglas Ervin Chaney.

Joyce was survived by her only son, Joseph Ervin Douglas Adkins; sister in law Emeline Robinson, a very special friend Patricia Thacker.

Joyce graduated from Millard High School. She worked as a staff nurse and House Supervisor at PMC. She received her Masters Degree in Nursing and taught at the Mayo Technical School that later integrated into Big Sandy College. Joyce adored her son and was a good friend to all.

Joyce will be forever and sadly missed by all who knew her.

The family will accept friends at Thacker Memorial Chapel, Tuesday, November 6, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM with service beginning at 7:00 P.M. Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 1:00 PM with burial following at Annie E. Young Cemetery in Pikeville, KY. Jerry Bliffen will be officiating. Arrangments are entrusted to the Thacker Memorial Funeral Home of Pikeville, KY.
