Welcome to the Smith Funeral Home

The Smith Funeral Home was established as the J. Donald Smith Funeral Home in 1955 by J. Donald Smith in Chadwicks. It operated there until 1970 when it moved to its present facility at 3022 Oneida Street in Sauquoit. In 1976, Donald’s son, David, joined the firm and in 1998 the business was purchased by David and his wife, Lori. In 2019, Smith Funeral Home affiliated with Dimbleby Funeral Homes, Inc, a family owned four generation firm. 

The combined resources of Smith and Dimbleby funeral homes will ensure that your family’s wishes will continue to be met.

Janice E. Conley, 72, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2018 at the Abraham House with her loving family at her side. She was born in Ithaca, NY on May 6, 1946, the daughter of the late Robert and Beverly Drake Kenerson. Janice was a 1964 graduate of Ithaca High School and furthered her education at the Utica School of Commerce.
During her working career she was employed as a nurse’s assistant at St. Joseph Nursing Home and for many years as a claims processor for Blue Cross-Blue Shield. Janice also volunteered her time at the Seeds of Hope Food Bank.
She traveled twice to Red Bird, KY on mission trips and was active for many years in the First United Methodist Church in New Hartford.
Janice is survived by her daughters; Kristen M. Siptrott, Kathryn and Scott Wakefield and Kerry and Ryan Calogero, her grandchildren; Heather, Melissa (Alex), Elizabeth (Nick), Zachary (Victoria), Cassandra, Kortney, Cameron, Madison and Jackson, her former husband; Vincent Conley, 6 great-grandchildren and her nephews; Kyle (Chrissy) and Corey.
She was predeceased by her brother; Brian Kenerson.
Janice’s family will receive family and friends from 2-4 on Monday, November 12 at the Smith Funeral Home, 3022 Oneida St., Sauquoit with a celebration of her life following at 4:00.
A heartfelt thankyou goes out to all those who helped during our mother and grandmother’s illness; Abraham House, Hospice and Palliative Care, her dear friend Ruth Ward and the Rev. Carol Jubenville. We could not have made this journey without your compassion and guidance.
