Maureen G. (McCarthy) Collins

Of Waltham, passed away peacefully Sunday evening November 11th, 2018 surrounded by her loving family in her home at the age of 85.

Born on May 21, 1933 in Flushing, New York; beloved daughter of the late John and Delia (Burke) McCarthy, Maureen was raised in Brooklyn, New York and moved to Waltham in 1956.

Maureen was employed as a Special Service Assistant at the Walter E. Fernald State School in Waltham for many years.

She extremely active at the Waltham Senior Center for many years and with New Beginnings in Wellesley. In her spare time she enjoyed playing tennis, ice skating and traveling.

Family was everything to Maureen. She cherished the moments spent with her children and especially her grandchildren.

Maureen is survived by her devoted & loving children Maureen McCartney and her husband Jim of Burlington, Patti-Ann Collins and her husband Brian Norris of Bedford, Richard L. Collins Jr. and his wife Susan (Stanley) Collins of Northfield, NH, and Kathleen Santiago and her husband Jim of Ayer and her dear siblings Ann Ely of Baldwin, NY, Jeremiah McCarthy and his wife Jeanne of Belmont, and the late John McCarthy. In addition she is survived by 16 cherished grandchildren, 13 adoring great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.

A Funeral Service in celebration of Maureen's Life will be held in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody St., WALTHAM on Wednesday morning Nov. 14th at 10:00 a.m. Visiting Hours will be held on Tuesday Nov. 13th from 4 - 8 p.m. in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons.
