We wish to thank the staff of Brampton Civic Hospital, and the nursing staff of the Palliative Home Care Team headed by Dr. Amanda Rosenblum.

We are very grateful for the compassionate care and friendship provided by Arlene Morgan, Clarese Brown as well as the many other Personal Care Workers from CBI who cared for our mother over the years.

Winnie was born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia and she and our father, Dan, moved to Toronto in hopes of making a better life for their family. Winnie was a volunteer at the YMCA and was a member of the Catholic WomenÅ› League at St. Ambrose Parish in Etobicoke. She managed the information/lottery booth at ShopperÅ› World Brampton for many years and in her spare time had a number of hobbies which included, reading, gardening, needlework, and painting ceramics. Winnie was also a fabulous baker and her oatmeal chocolate chip cookies were famous. She also enjoyed attending Blue Jays baseball games and recently developed an interest in watching curling on tv. Downton Abbey became her favourite tv show and she watched the series over and over so many times that she began to learn the dialogue!

Winnie was a devout Catholic and enjoyed watching mass daily when she was no longer able to attend church in person. Her rosary was said nightly and prayed for every person who was lucky enough to be a part of her life.

Those of you fortunate enough to know our mother, know how special she was. Our family home is silent now. No more are the sounds of humming machines that once kept our beloved mother alive. We will have to count on our memories for that and she has left us with many wonderful ones.

We love and miss you mom but we know that you are at peace with Dad now and will continue to watch over us as you always have. So grateful are we to have had you for as long as we did.

Thank you.
