Obituary for Thomas Craig Mullins
Mr. Thomas Craig Mullins of Newport, Arkansas, went home on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at the age of 69. He was born September 9, 1949 in Searcy, Arkansas, the only child of Tommy and Frances (Martin) Mullins.
In 1971, he married Linda Kaye Walton, his devoted wife of almost 48 years, and gained a sister, Phyllis (Matthew) Worthington; and two brothers, John (Lisa) Walton and Bob (Tina) Walton.
Craig was a graduate of Newport High School, and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Ouachita University.
He was the pastor of Murphy’s Corner Baptist Church for over 45 years. Craig also worked for the Department of Human Services as a Child and Adult Protective Social Worker and supervisor for over 20 years.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending many wonderful years hunting with his father, his cousin, John Greer, his son-in-law and grandson, James and Ethan Kirchner.
Craig was preceded in death by his parents, Tommy and Frances Mullins.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Mullins of Newport; two daughters, Melissa Kirchner and husband, James of Conway, and Melinda Mullins of Conway; two grandsons, Silas and Ethan Kirchner of Conway; his mother-in-law, Jeannine (Marchand) Walton of Newport; several aunts, an uncle, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel beginning at 12:30 p.m. Monday. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. David Emery and Bro. John Greer officiating. Interment will be at Sandhill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Gideon’s International, Murphy’s Corner Baptist Church, or Compass Academy of Conway.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are John Walton, Bob Walton, Scott Loftin, Bobby Walton, Gerry Balch, and Ralph Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Joe McGinnis, Marcus Grady, Sid Emmons, Johnny Thompson, Bill Vickers, and Tom Whaley.
