Dear Sandy, Donna, Steve and Rob,
I am so sad to hear about your dad. He was such a great person. He was a second dad to me when I was a crazy teenager and really needed an extra one, and I was especially blessed to have one as special as him.
He and your mom always welcomed us at your place (Sandy's friends, but I'm sure it was true for all the kid's friends). They really paid attention and listened to us, that's what I always appreciated about both of them. Even though they made a great sport out of teasing us, your house was still a great after school home!
Your dad's presence made St. F. X. a better place for kids, as he was a safe, secure adult for a lot of us. I loved how he stayed busy in retirement and never stopped contributing to making the world a better place (for birds and people).
Very sorry I can't be there for his memorial to hear the stories, but I'll see you soon after, Sandy!
