Ruth Helen Gustafson, 73, died Sunday, May 17, 2020 at The Canterbury At Cedar Grove in Cedar Grove, NJ. She was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Helen Gustafson.

Ruth was born November 15, 1946 in Jersey City, New Jersey the daughter of Richard Theodore and Helen Maria (Wikander) Gustafson. She lived in New Brunswick and Elizabeth.

Ruth attended Rutgers University, where she earned a Master’s in Library Science. She was a Principal Librarian for Elizabeth Public Library, where she worked for many years. Ruth belonged to the Rutgers University Alumni Association and was a member of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Ruth was also an avid photographer and loved cats.

Ruth was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in New Brunswick, NJ.

Ruth is survived by her friends, Tiina Nummela, Arnold Schmidt, and Alexandra Schmidt.

Ruth will be laid to rest at Bay View Cemetery in Jersey City, NJ.

Funeral services will be private under the care and direction of the Gleason Funeral Home.
