Obituary for Ellen Emily Ryski (nee Bilyk)

Ellen Emily Ryski (nee Bilyk)
Ellen Emily Ryski (nee Bilyk) passed peacefully from this life to be with her Lord and Saviour on February 22, 2021 at the age of 89 years. She will forever be remembered as a loving and committed wife, an extraordinary and supportive mother, an enthusiastic grandmother and great-grandmother, a loyal and trusted friend. She was a hard-worker all her life and served all those she loved with a beautiful smile and a great sense of humor.

Ellen is predeceased by her loving husband, Emil Ryski; and her parents, Peter and Eugenia Bilyk. She will be greatly missed by her children, Marlane Pentelechuk (Darren), Mark Ryski (Corine), and Terry Ryski (Roni); as well as her seven grandchildren, Erin (Matt), Nicholas (Janelle), Jennifer, Carlee, Zachary, Taylor and Cole. She also leaves three beloved great- grandchildren who visited her often, Henry, Jack and Norah Ellen.

We wish to express gratitude to Reverend Michael Kowalchyk, who was her parish priest for many years and took time to visit her regularly when she became ill. We are eternally grateful to the amazing staff of the first floor dementia unit at Shepherd’s Care Vanguard and Dr. Aradi and Dr. Vicaruddin, who so compassionately cared for her especially in her final days on earth.
A private family service will be held at St. Vladimir the Great Ukrainian Catholic Church in Edmonton, where Ellen was an active member of the UCWLC and a beloved parishioner for many years.

In lieu of other tributes, donations in Ellen’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Alberta https://alzheimer.ca/ab/en or the Shepherd’s Care Foundation https://www.shepherdscare.org/home/.
