Obituary for Thomas Haessler Jr.

Thomas Haessler, Jr., aged 91, a resident of Poughquag and formerly of Valhalla, NY, died peacefully on April 11, 2024.

Born in Mount Vernon, NY on November 25, 1932, Tom was the son of Thomas and Alice (Bailey) Haessler. He married his wife Barbara (Garbarini) in May, 1965 and had two sons, Thomas and Robert. Prior to his marriage, he served in the U.S. Army in Korea. Tom was a retired Draftsman from Cognitronics Corporation. He was a past president of the Tent-n-Tow camping group of Westchester NCHA and secretary for the Wayne Johanson bowling league in Armonk. He was a talented woodworker and dedicated collaborator for Decoupage Miniatures by Barbara, attending many craft shows throughout the region.

Tom was predeceased by his beloved son Bob. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, his son Tom and daughter-in-law Janice; his adoring grandchildren Laura (Allen), Thomas, Samantha (Anthony), Kaitlin and great-grandchildren, Saylor and Colter. Tom is further survived by Bob’s wife Cheryl and children, Liam, Kelsey and Madison; his brother, James Haessler and sister, Judy Clark.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 16th from 2-4 and 6-8 at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, April 17th at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Andrew P. Carrozza officiating. Burial will follow at Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, NY.
