We lost a dear friend today. Bob Nelson, our Saturday morning music critic at University Commons Nursing Home has joined "the chorus in the clouds". Joined it? If I know Bob, he is DIRECTING that chorus and he isn't accepting any sour notes either! I know that because Bob was always at the Saturday morning singalongs at the Pub in the lobby of University Commons---EVERY SATURDAY MORNING AT 10:00 A.M.---NEVER MISSED! If "Polish Eddie" brought in a song off his computer that those singing volunteers didn't know, we could ALWAYS count on Bob knowing the tune. After awhile I also got to "read" Bob's evaluation of our singing: If we sang a song well, Bob would be silent, but if we sang the least bit flat, I would look over at him and sure enough his head would be shaking back and forth from left to right! Yes, Bob knew his music and it was also fun to hear him reminisce about the Town Club and the area around Lake Quinsigamond. We will miss Bob at the Thursday Mass, at the Friday Conversation Time,the Saturday Singalong, and watching him interact with his wonderfully loyal family.
