Obituary for David DeWare

DeWARE, DAVID EARL David E. DeWare, 75, of Moncton, with his loving family at his side, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Saturday, March 19, 2016. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Earl and Margaret (LeBlanc) DeWare. For 40 years he had a great passion for his work at DeWare’s Supermarkets located in Moncton, Rexton and Sackville. He was an elder in United Church in the 1970’s. He was President of Moncton Junior Hawks in the late 1970’s. As a horse lover and owner of racehorses with his 2 uncles, he was a co-owner of Brunswick Downs Harness Racing in the late 1970’s. He served 10 years on the Board of Trustees at the Moncton Hospital and also worked on the Moncton Hospital Centennial Campaign in the 1990’s. He was Chairman of the Kidney Foundation Golf Tournament for 10 years. He was a member of the Elks since 1984 and Chairman of the Purple Cross for 2 years. He was a member of the Beaver Curling Club and also enjoyed watching curling. He enjoyed golfing with his two sons and many friends. He also attended annual golf trips to the Tim Horton’s Camp in Tatamagouche for many years. After his retirement and moving to Shediac Cape, he was a member of the Boishebert Club in Shediac and really enjoyed a night out with the boys and the many boat trips on Shediac Bay. He had many trips with his family over the years. His greatest joy was being a husband, Dad and Gramps. He always had time relaxing and just being with his family, wife and “his” Maggie Mae (our Golden Retriever). David will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 51 years, Donna (Cadman) DeWare of Moncton; sons, Kevin DeWare (Robyn) and Jason DeWare (Parise) both of Moncton; grandson, Nathan; sister, Ruth Fram (Ken) of Moncton; designated brother/cousin, Doug DeWare (Betty) of Moncton; niece, Wendy and Linda Fram; nephew, Earl Fram; special four legged companion, Maggie Mae. Visitation will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home on Thursday, March 24, 2016 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. A Service to Celebrate David’s Life will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 11:00 am with The Rev. Aaron Billard officiating. Reception following the service in the Funeral Home Reception Centre. Interment to be held at Elmwood Cemetery, in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations in David’s memory can be made to The Friends of the Moncton Hospital or charity of the donor’s choice.
