Obituary for Emilia McCaie

McCAIE, ÉMILIA 1920 - 2016 It is with great sadness that the family of Émilia Marie Anne McCaie announces her passing at the Villa Providence in Shediac on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at the age of 95. Born on December 6, 1920 in Chicoutimi, Québec, she was the daughter of the late Thaddée and Émerise (Richard) Daigle. Émilia and her loving husband Gérald enjoyed spending time with their family, taking long drives in the country, playing cards, dancing and playing darts at several Golden Age Clubs. She also enjoyed cooking, knitting, watching television and listening to music. Émilia was a wonderful wife and mother who selflessly devoted herself to her family. She always had a smile for everyone she met, and will be greatly missed by all those who knew her. She is survived by four children: Lucille Dunn (David) and Corinne Mallais (Gérard), both of Moncton; Louise McCaie (Kelly) of Saint John, Lynne Léger (Michel) of Ottawa, Ont.; one very special grandson, Zacharie Léger of Ottawa; one sister, Doris Richard (Émile) of Dieppe; three brothers: Ronald Daigle, Réginald Daigle (Doreen), and Normand Daigle (Rita); one brother-in-law, Lionel McCaie; three sisters-in-law: Hermine Daigle, Adrienne Gauvin and Marguerite Ferguson, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Gérald François McCaie (2012); five sisters: her twin Cécilia McCaie, Dora McDonald, Vincence Bourgoin, Laura Daigle and Albertine Daigle; three brothers: Emery Daigle, Edmond Daigle, and Alire Daigle; three brothers-in-law: Edmond Bourgoin, Roger McDonald and Réginald McCaie; four sisters-in-law: Annette Daigle, Doris Daigle, Simone McCaie and Béatrice Daigle. The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) on Sunday, February 14 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm only. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix Roman Catholic Church, 87 Murphy Avenue, Moncton on Monday, February 15 at 11 am. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary cemetery, Dieppe. In memory of Émilia, a contribution to the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick or to the Villa Providence Foundation would be appreciated. On-line condolences may be sent to Frenette Funeral Centre at www.frenettefuneralhome.com.
