Obituary for Yvon Bastarache

Yvon Bastarache 1921-2008 Yvon Bastarache, 86, of Moncton, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2008 at the Moncton Hospital. Born in Dieppe, NB, he was the son of the late Alyre and the late Evangeline (née LeBlanc) Bastarache. Prior to this retirement, Mr. Bastarache worked as a boilermaker at CNR for 37 years. From 1944 to 2002, he was a first aid volunteer at the Moncton Stadium, the Coliseum and local arenas, the town of Dieppe Volunteer Fire Chief from 1954 to 1955, a member of the St John Ambulance for 27 years and a parishioner of Cathédrale Notre-Dame de l'Assomption. He is survived by his wife of 64 years and best friend, Lorraine (née Cormier); three daughters, Diane (Jimmy) Kenny of Upper Coverdale, Lucille McCurdy (Allie) and Yvette (Chris) Beaman, both of Moncton; one son, Raymond (Bonnie) of Plaster Rock, NB; one sister, Rita Hebert of Moncton; three brothers, George (Holly), Thomas (Patricia), both of Dieppe, and René (Jeanne) of Leominster, Mass; ten grandchildren, Shelley, Jeff, Tina, Shawn, Robbie, Julie, Damien, Carrie, Mark and Alyssa-Rae; eight great grandchildren, Justin, Joshua, Kleighton, Brooke, Kayla, Kacey, Carson and Ava; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by five sisters, Maria, Thérèse, Jeannette, Dora and Irène; and also by four brothers, Alban, Edgar, Francois and Eli. Visitation will be held from the Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB (857-1901) on Monday, October 13, 2008 from 2-4pm and from 7-9pm. No visitation on day of funeral. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Cathédrale Notre-Dame de l'Assomption, on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at 11am. Interment in Notre-Dame du Calvaire Cemetery, Dieppe, NB. Donations to the St John Ambulance, Friends of the Moncton Hospital or the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family. www.chartersville.com
