Obituary for Bernice Irene Plume

PLUME, BERNICE IRENE - 101, of Petitcodiac and formerly of Havelock passed away Thursday, July 9, 2009 at the Moncton Hospital. Bernice was born in Hopewell Cape, a daughter of the late John and Mae (Trenholm) Joyce. She was a retired school teacher from Havelock with over 33 years of teaching, a member of the Havelock Baptist Church, Women's Auxiliary, WMS and she was also a Sunday school teacher. Bernice was a member of the Havelock W.I., the former Eastern Star Lodge, True Blue Orange Lodge and a life member of the P.C. Party. She was also a member of the Butternut Ridge Seniors and Provincial Seniors Federation. In retirement she enjoyed travelling the world and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her children Nancy Bannister (Weldon) of Havelock, Girvan (Carol) of Petitcodiac, Madeline Prosser (Doug) of Petitcodiac, Sandra Steele (Dave) of Petitcodiac, Paul (Lucille) of Barachois, Bernard (Brenda) of Kinnear Settlement, and David (Noanie) of Salisbury; 20 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by husband Harry (1972); infant daughter Joyce; brother Harold Joyce and sisters Lillian Nutter and Beulah Kearns. Bernice was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Resting at Salisbury Funeral Home 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) with visiting Friday, July 10, 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The celebration service will be held from the Havelock Baptist Church Saturday, July 11 at 2:30 pm with Rev. Bill Parks officiating and interment to follow at Greenhill Cemetery. Memorials if desired to the Havelock Baptist Church Building Fund or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family. www.keirsteads.ca
