Obituary for BERTRAM (BERT) RICHARD FORGEY

FORGEY, BERTRAM (BERT) RICHARD - Son of the late Pearl (Cooke) and Fred Forgey, 76, of Saint John, N.B. passed away December 14th, 2003 at home after a lengthy illness. Bert is survived by his wife Josephine "Jo" (Doyle), one son Wayne (Jill) of Saint John, two daughters, Shelly Forgey (Dave Judge) at home, and Lisa Rooney (Peter) of Quispamsis, as well as his beloved dog Brandy. Bert will be sadly missed by a brother, Fred "Bud" (Jean) of Saint John, and one sister, Letitia Clark (Len) of Sussex, brother-in-law Ron Doyle, sister-in-laws,Verna Forgey, Audrey Forgey, Vera Arseneau, Frances Kincade (Larry) and Alice Jackson (Cliff). He is also survived by one grandson, Logan Forgey, two granddaughters, Katelyn and Ashley Rooney, along with several nieces and nephews. Bert was predeceased by brothers,Ferdinand, Brougham and Wallace and sisters Bertha, Ada and Mary. Bert was a machinist by trade and had been employed by McAvity's and T.S. Simms locally and in various machine shops in Toronto in the 1940's and 1950's. He and his brothers, Bud and Brougham started Forgey Brothers Machine Shop in 1970, where he was employed until his retirement in 1991. Bert was an avid fiddle player in his younger years and enjoyed golfing, fishing and traveling. Bert was a loving and devoted husband and father and his greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. Resting at Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Rd Saint John, NB. (646-2424) With visitation on Tuesday, December 16th, 2-4 & 7-9pm. The Funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home "Chapel" on Wednesday December 17th; at 2 p.m. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. Memorial Donations may be made to the NB lung Association, Animal Rescue League or to the memorial of the donor's choice. www.fundyfuneralhome.com
