Obituary for Jonathan Rooney

ROONEY, JONATHAN “JON” EDWARD - It is with great sadness that the family of Jonathan Rooney, beloved husband of Jessica (McCullough) Rooney announces his unexpected passing, which occurred peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, August 2, 2014, at his residence in Fort McMurray, AB. Born in Saint John on April 15, 1986, he was a cherished son of Wendy (nee Lockhart) Norman (Stephen) and Jim Rooney (Danielle McLellan) all of Grand Bay-Westfield. Jon treasured the times spent with those he loved and especially enjoyed the quality family time and camping adventures spent with Jessica and their precious children. He will always be remembered as a loving and gentle husband, father, son, brother and friend. Jon was passionate about playing the guitar and enjoyed four-wheeling, target practice and more recently skeet shooting. Jon was employed with Applus RTD as the Regional Operations Manager for the Fort McMurray location. In addition to his wife and parents, Jon is also survived by his children, Landon, Myelin and Hayden; sister, Jessica Rooney of Grand Bay-Westfield; brother, Justin Rooney (Stephanie) of AB; step-sister, Melissa McLellan; step-brothers, Kristian Gagnon and Josh McLellan (Jill); maternal grandmother, Constance Lockhart; mother-in-law, Dana McCullough; father-in-law, Tony Trecartin (Eileen); brothers-in-law, John McCullough (Rian) and Josh McCullough (Megan); niece, Ava; step-grandparents, Norman and Gaile D’Anjou; as well as grandmother-in-law, Doreen McCullough. Jon was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, John Eric Lockhart and paternal grandparents, George and Florence Rooney. Resting at Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (634-7425) with visiting on Sunday, August 10 and Monday, August 11 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Matthew’s Church, Grand Bay-Westfield on Tuesday, August 12, 2014, at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place in St. Augustine’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Tim Horton Children’s Camp or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Online remembrances and condolences may be placed at: www.BrenansFH.com
