Obituary for LELYA GERTRUDE "SALLY" ARMSTRONG

ARMSTRONG, LELYA GERTRUDE "SALLY"- Sally Armstrong, devoted wife of Lloyd Armstrong of Saint John, passed away at home, Saturday March 15th, 2008. Born in Littleton, NB to the late Stanley & Bessie (Mullin) Holmes. She came to Saint John as a young woman working for Easton's, Cotton Mill, The Match Factory and Barbour's Co. Much involved in her community she was an active member of the Home and School Association and a member of The Ladies Glade #1. Married July 3rd, 1948 this year would have been Sally and Lloyd's 60th wedding anniversary. Devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother she was always there with a kind word. She took great pride in raising her family and loved watching her grandchildren grow. Besides her husband, Lloyd; Sally is survived by her children, Janet MacKenzie (Raymond) of Saint John, Lee Hansemann (Robert) of Hampton, IL, Bonnie Weston (Gary) of Fairfield NB, Kenneth Armstrong and David Armstrong both of Saint John; grandchildren, Michael Weston of Fairfield NB, Lisa Hansemann Houser (Kris) of Davenport, IA and Karen Boudreau (James) of St. Martin's; great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Taylor Anne, Brandon and Zoey; sister, Verna Dunnett (Eugene); and brother-in-law, Alan MacTavish both of the Mirimichi; many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her parents; brother, Stafford Blackmore; sisters, Dora Dickson, Della MacTavish, Katie Matchett and special cousin, Kenneth Matchett. Resting at the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Rd. (646-2424) with visitation from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., on Monday, March 17th, 2008. A Glade Tribute Service will begin at 7:30 p.m. Monday evening. Funeral service will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, March 18th, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Diabetes Association, Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the charity of the donor's choice.
