Obituary for Michael "Mickey" Huttges

HUTTGES, MICHAEL JOHN “MICKEY” - With heavy hearts the family of Michael John Huttges “Mickey” of St. Martins announce his unexpected passing at home on Thursday, April 21st, 2011. Born August of 1943 in Saint John he was the son of the late Henry Joseph and Helen Hermine (Schubert) Huttges. Mickey was the owner and meat cutter at Huttges General Merchants in St. Martins for over 30 years, and was famous for his sausage meat. He was a member of the Lions Club and the Royal Canadian Legion, St. Martins. Mickey is survived by his spouse and long-time partner Cherri Wilson, four children Colin (Shauna) of British Columbia, Denyse (Terry) of Los Angeles, Peter (Rebecca) of Fredericton and Bill of Charlottetown, two grandchildren Ryan and Ethan of BC and twin brother James of St. Martins; several nieces, nephews and many friends. Besides his parents, Mickey was predeceased by his brother Henry Huttges Jr. Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, (646-2424) with visitation on Sunday, April 24th from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday, April 25th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the St. Martins United Church, 24 Main Street, St. Martins on Tuesday, April 26th at 2 p.m. with interment to follow at St. Martins Community Cemetery. A reception will follow interment at the St. Martins Royal Canadian Legion. Donations in Mickey’s memory can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
