Obituary for Brian Hawkins

HAWKINS, BRIAN RICHARD It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Brian Richard Hawkins. He passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 30th, 2015. Born in England in 1939, he was the son of the late Ernest Hawkins and Winifred Blondel. Brian is survived by his wife, Tricia; his children, Debbie Contos (Peter) of Airdrie, AB, and Mark Hawkins (Andrica) and Rhonda Gaffney (Charlie), all of Fredericton, NB; his grandchildren, Isylla, Madison, Nick, Zach, Aidan, MacKenzie and Amanda Contos, Klaryssa and Camden Hawkins, Nathan and Riley Gaffney; sister, Kathy Jones (Brian) of England; and many nieces and nephews. Brian was retired from UNB as a Chemicial Engineer Technician where he worked for 35 years. He had a love for the sport of soccer and played on the Galleon Soccer Team. In the 1970s, Brian helped start up Fredericton Minor Soccer. He coached and served as club President for many years. Brian also had a passion for gardening. He grew Dahlias and was known for his many FREX awards. Brian loved his family and will be sadly missed. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held in the J.A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Friday, December 4th, 2015 at 11:00 am with The Rev. Canon Bill MacMullin officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Brian's memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick. Online condolences can be made at www.mcadamsfh.com, 458-9170.
