Obituary for GERALD FRANCIS GORDON

GORDON, GERALD FRANCIS After a lengthy illness, it is with sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Gerald F. Gordon of Nackawic on July 17th, 2009 at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital at the age of 67. Born in 1941 at Lower Newscastle, NB, he was a son of the late Ora and Clara (MacDonald) Gordon. Gerald operated a Stedman Dealer Retail Store in St. Andrews for five years and Nackawic Department Store for twenty-seven years. He loved his cottage in Renous and watching sports. Gerald enjoyed the stock market, gardening and playing cards. He was a cancer and a double lung transplant survivor. Gerald is survived by his wife, Joyce Ann (Carroll) Gordon; his children, Cheryl McGuire (Kevin), Nackawic and Todd Gordon (Andrea), Rothesay; five grandchildren, Alicia and Hillary McGuire, both of Nackawic, Kate Gordon and Bradley and Scott Thorne, all of Rothesay; two brothers, William Gordon (Mary), Moncton and James Gordon, Lower Newcastle; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Mary Gordon. Visiting hours will be held at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic on Sunday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Simon and St. Jude Catholic Church, 199 Otis Drive, Nackawic on Monday, July 20th, 2009 at 11 am with celebrant Father Brian Wetmore. Interment in St. Simon and St. Jude Catholic Cemetery. For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Gerald, the family has suggested the St. Simon and St. Jude Catholic Church or a charity of the donor's choice. www.flewellingswan.com
