Obituary for Jackie Phillips

Jackie Davidson Phillips - It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Jackie D. Phillips, formerly of Rusagonis, NB, on Thursday, June 17, 2010 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton, NB. He was born in Chatham, NB on June 21, 1928 to the late Jack H. and Annie V. M. (Davidson) Phillips. Jackie graduated from Fredericton High School in 1945 and received a Business Management Diploma from the American School of Chicago. His careers included farming, carpentry, Manager of Capital Cooperative Ltd., a school teacher and 30 years service at the NB Power Corporation. He was very active in many community, provincial, national and international associations. During his involvements, he held the offices of Grand Master of the Grand Orange Lodge of Canada, Vice-President of the Imperial Grand Orange Lodge of the World, President of the Orange Life Insurance Company of Canada, Grand Master of the Grand Orange Lodge of NB, Founder and President of the Maritime Orange Lodge Council and President of British America Publishing Company. He was also a member of the Maugerville Christ Church Anglican Church where he served as Treasurer for 44 years. He is survived by his loving and supportive wife of 58 years, Doris; his children, John (Kathy), David (Susan), Blaine (Mary Rogers), Janet and Kevin (friend, Gina Hopkins); his grandchildren, Melissa (Andrew), Jessica, Rebecca, Erin, Jill (Ben), Josh (Tiffany), Amanda and Alyssa; great-grandchildren, Isabelle, Aiden, Jayna and Claire; sisters, Coleen Farrell and Aletha Jones; brother-in-law, Ronald Clark (Ethel) as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held at McAdam's Funeral Home, 160 York St. (458-9170) on Sunday, June 20 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The Orange Lodge will hold a tribute at 6:30 pm on Sunday evening. The funeral service will be held in the J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Monday, June 21, 2010 at 11:00 am. Rev. Keith Howlett officiating. Interment will follow in the Rusagonis Baptist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes in Jackie's honor may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. On-line condolences can be made at www.mcadamsfh.com.
