Obituary for Pearlene Hallihan

HALLIHAN, PEARLENE JOYCE - On Sunday, August 4th, 2013 we lost, but heaven gained a most exceptional lady, Pearlene Joyce (McAllister) Hallihan at the age of 80. Affectionately known as Pearl by family and friends, she was the youngest of eight children born to the late Eva and Myles McAllister in Sillikers, NB on Decemer 31, 1932. Pearl was raised in a close, loving family where everyone learned to help and care for one another. She extended that love and devotion into her life and to all she knew. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend. Pearl touched the lives of many people with her smile, gentle spirit, generousity, friendliness and her sense of humor. In 1957, she married her sweetheart, the late Frank Hallihan and together they raised three children, Jocelyn (Greg) Doucet, Gordon Hallihan and Eva Hallihan who will cherish her loving memory forever. Since January 1964, she was an active member of the Oromocto Baptist Church and regularly attended the Womens Missionary Society. Pearl was also a life time member of the United Baptist Womens Missionary Union. She loved being a mom, reading her Bible, praying with and for others as she was a Prayer Warrior, spending time with her family and friends, travelling and shopping. Pearl was predeceased by her husband; parents; brothers, Gerald, Norman and Ingram and sisters, Carmel and Molly; sister-in-law Iona Williston and brother-in-law Leo Hallihan. She is survived by devoted sisters, Melba Schofield and Glenna McMurray; brother, Harry McAllister and special nephew, Albro McAllister; brothers-in-law, Ivan (Leona) Hallihan, Robert G. Hallihan, sisters-in-law, Elsie Bryenton and Laura Hallihan as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She will be resting at Oromocto Funeral Home, Tuesday, August 6th from 7PM to 9PM and Wednesday, August 7th from 2PM to 4PM and 7PM to 9PM. Funeral service will be held Thursday, August 8th at 11:00AM at Oromocto Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Karl Csaszar officiating. Interment to follow at Burton Cemetery. For those who wish, rememberances may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of the donor's choice. www.oromoctofh.com We will miss you, however, we know you are safe in the loving arms of your Saviour whom you lived for all your life.
