Obituary for Gordon Beers

For the past 92 years the world was a better place because of the life of Gordon Palmer Beers. Gordon's journey started October15, 1923 in Emmerson, NB the son of the late Herbert and Hesba (Young) and sadly ended October 7, 2016 at the Veterans’ Health Centre in Moncton.

Gordon was a loving father and will be sadly missed by his three children; Shelley (Jeff), Dana (Donna), Connie (Willy), his five grandchildren; Shane, Aaron, Asheley, Amanda, Sarah and his six great-grandchildren Danika, Chloe, Colby, Kaleb, Trinity, Grayden and Ashton. Gordon will also be missed by his sister Marilyn MacDonald and his nephew Craig Beers.

He was predeceased by his brothers; Harry, Eldred, Carmen, Donnie and sisters, Gladys and Dorothy.

Gordon proudly served with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corp, 3rd Div. during WWII from 1941–1946. After returning home Gordon spent 31 years with CN and retired in 1986. He also ran a successful auto body shop for many years and was his happiest when working in his garage.Gordon will not be remembered by where he worked or his accomplishments BUT he will be remembered by how he lived life to the fullest. Gordon loved to tell a good joke but never got to the punch line before his laughter had you in stitches. Gordon also took his fashion cues from no one. His signature every daylook was all his; a plain white T–shirt paired with his grease stained cargo pants from working around his garage. He was always on the go but enjoyed thesimple life with family, friends, and his dog "Buddy".

During the summer months he treasured his trailer nestled in the trees in Browns Yard and his winters were busy snowmobiling. To those who knew him well he was the master of many unknown and one of a kind inventions, you might say we had our own McGiver. His quick wit, humour and kindness will be forever missed.

Visitation will be held at Fair Haven Funeral Home on Friday, October 14, 2016 from 1:00pm until service time, a Legion Service followed by a celebration of Gordon’s life will be held at 2:00pm officiated by Rev. Cecil Symms. Burial, with the immediate family, will be at a later date in Beersville Cemetery.

Donations can be made to charity of choice. Arrangements entrusted to Fair Haven Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1177 Salisbury Road, Moncton, (506) 852–3530. A book of condolences may be signed at www.fairhavenmemorial.ca
