Obituary for Frederick Pratt

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Frederick Herman Pratt husband of the late Nora (Munn) Pratt of Fredericton, NB. Fred (Herm) passed away peacefully at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Monday, January 23, 2017. Born on May 7, 1924 inDoaktown, NB, he was the son of the late Alexander and Hannah (Arbeau) Pratt.

Fred joined the Armed Forces at the age of 18. He served his country at home and abroad for 31 years. His service included World War II, the Korean War and a tour in Cyprus. After retiring from the military, he joined the Commissionaires until his retirement at the age of 88. In his career, he was honoured for his high standard of service. He was known for his exceptionally calm nature, unwavering loyalty, honesty, dependability and respect for all people. He was also known for his deep appreciation and love for his family. Fred was a faithful member of Sunset Church. He enjoyed meeting friends on Saturday morning for breakfast. He also enjoyed his daily walks and meeting his buddies at Tim’s.

Fred is survived by his son, Fred Pratt Jr. (Pauline) of Fredericton, NB; his daughters, Nelvana Stewart (Dennis) of Doaktown, NB, Darlene Carrier and Nola O’Donnell both of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Mark, Troy, Darcy, Kelly, Jill, Andrew, Jessica and Dillon; great–grandchildren, Rachelle, Jordan, Nicholas, Slade, Coleton, Brady, Brynn, Rebecca, Zacharie, Benjamin, Bethany, Leah, Coral, Hunter and Avery; seven great–great–grandchildren, Hudson, Emma, Hayden, Gavin, Kaleigh, Kassidy and Jayden; sister, Phyllis O’Donnell of Manitoba; several nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his grandson, Greg Munn and wife Lisa; sisters, Edna Muckler, Ann Storey and Ruby Brewer; brothers, Norman, William and Amos Pratt.

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Thursday, January 26, 2017 from 6 to 8 pm. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4 are asked to assemble at the funeral home on Thursday at 5:45 pm for a Legion Tribute Service. The Funeral Service will take place at AbundantLife Church, Main Street, Doaktown, NB on Friday, January 27, 2017 at 2 pm (visitation from 1 to 2 pm) with Rev. Darren Munn officiating and Rev. Ron Carroll assisting.

Sincere thanks to Dr. Karol and Dr. Anan for their excellent care. Interment will take place in the First Pentecostal Cemetery, Doaktown, NB at a later date.
