Obituary for William Moore

Heaven welcomed Rev. William “Bill” Darrell Moore of Fredericton, NB, husband of Joyce (Somers) Moore, just before midnight on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born on October 15, 1940, in Fredericton, NB, he was the son of the late William Edward Moore and Bessie Shorey (Thompson) Moore.

Pastor Bill loved people, life, family, and ministry. He was a trusted man of great faith. He graduated from UNB with a Bachelor of Arts and Master’s Degree in History. He taught high school for nearly eight years in New Brunswick and during twelve years of service with Wesleyan World Missions (Global Partners) in Zambia, Africa, at Choma Secondary School. Upon his return from the mission field in 1983 he began his ministry as full–time clergy in Fredericton, Seal Cove, Calais, and Sandford, until his 2007 retirement in his home town of Fredericton, NB.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, William J. A. Moore, Rev. Peter Moore (Ellen), and chosen son Rev. Glen McVicar (Eleanor); grandchildren, Mallory, Julia, Shorey, Aaron, and Emily; his siblings, Wanda (Moore) Mott, Allison Moore (Shirley), Elizabeth (Moore) Frost; two sisters–in–law, Gail Goodwin (Randall), Sharon Young (George); four nieces and six nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers–in–law, Rev. Linda Frost, and Jim Mott.

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Sunday, February 19, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 pm. Additional visitation will be held at Journey Wesleyan Church, 131 Duncan Lane, Fredericton, on Monday, February 20, 2017, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. A Memorial Service will take place at Journey Wesleyan Church on Monday, February 20, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Matthew Maxwell and Dr. HC Wilson officiating. A private family interment will take place in Olivet Cemetery, Marysville, NB, this summer.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Journey Wesleyan Church, the NB Alzheimer’s Society, or Pilgrim Wesleyan Church of Zambia (Global Partners). Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com.
