Obituary for Kathleen LeBlanc

Kathleen C. LeBlanc, 86, of Moncton, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Tuesday, February 28, 2017. Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late Hartford and Sarah (Melvin) Mullin. Kathleen was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend and protector – accepting of all.

Kathleen left her formal education at the early age of 12 to start work for S.B. Gavell Ltd and Maritime Paint. Years later after getting married and once her first boy Paul was of a certain age, Kay returned to the workforce, with Eastern Dry Cleaners & Mitchell Furs, and Reid’s Photography Centre. Then 11 years after her first son, came her second boy, Gregory, at which time she committed several years to fulltime homemaker. Several years later both boys left the nest and Kay, went back to work until her retirement at The Sally Shop (old Moncton Mall).

Upon retirement, Kay was a member of the Golden Age Clubs of Dieppe and Notre–Dame–de–la–Paix. She was a participant of the CWL at St. Michael’s Parish. Ballroom dancing became a large part of Kay and Henry’s empty nest activity calendar and exercise program. Kay enjoyed being a non–competitive bowler, having memberships at Elmwood, Fairlanes and Bowlarama in Moncton and Dieppe. Kay got the travel bug in the 1980’s and 90’s, enjoying several bus & train tours with friends from different groups she belonged and flying in an airplane for the first time to Bermuda. Kay and Henry enjoyed more than 60 years of enjoyment hosting kitchen parties and listening to country music performed by their many talented friends and extended families at their cottage getaway with the kids in Caissie Cape.

Kathleen will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 68 years, Henry LeBlanc; sons, Paul LeBlanc and Gregory LeBlanc (Roger); several nieces, nephews and extended family members. Kay was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by brothers and sisters, Cecil, Wilfred, Ronald, Lloyd, John, Vivian, Alatha, Ida, Mayme and Eileen.

Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858–1995) on Sunday from 6:30 to 9:00 pm and Monday from 9:30 am until departure for the funeral. Funeral Mass to be celebrated at St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church (Botsford and Queen Streets) on Monday, March 6, 2017 at 11:00 am with Rev. Allison Carroll officiating. Reception will follow the Mass in the Parish Hall. A spring interment will be held at la Visitation Parish Cemetery, Grande Digue, NB.

In memory of Kathleen, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Southeast New Brunswick or a memorial of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences at www.fergusonsfuneralhome.com
